Abstract

The purpose of this study is to construct the development of laboratories in learning
economics for prospective economics teacher students. The purpose of this laboratory is to
become a source of learning to deepen the concept of economics and improve student
pedagogical competence. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data
collection is done through interviews, analysis of learning plans, and study of literature.
Interviews were conducted with lecturers and students of economic education. Data validity
uses method triangulation. Data analysis uses social construction theory. The results showed
that practicum activities can be carried out in the laboratory in the sense of physical space,
through project-based learning through simple research by observing economic phenomena
in real life. Economic education laboratories can also be done via virtual using computer
simulations or assisted by information technology. The development of learning activities
through laboratories can foster scientific attitudes through proof of abstract concepts in
economics, improve students' abilities in mastering economic material, the ability to analyze,
solve problems, and make decisions and practice skills in developing learning media.
Besides, the use of laboratories can inspire students to develop laboratories in schools when
they are interned in partner schools and later when they become teachers The development of
