Abstract

The past literature related to the Solar Water Pumping Systems (SWPS) has already been
discussed vividly about the design aspects and its performance. Unlike other authors, the novelty of this
paper is to predict four basic output values such as photovoltaic (PV) array output energy, excess energy that
can be supplied to the grid, energy reaching to the load and the water discharge for irrigation purpose using
non-linear curve fitting through Polynomial Regression Analysis (PRA) method. The main objective of this
paper is to predict the above-said values through the monthly average hourly values of insolation. The
methodology for designing the SWPS considered in this study is based on the land extent of one acre and the
crop type is paddy. This method is useful in agriculture applications whereas the system designer can make
use of the regression equations to get rid of the complex design procedure of the SWPS.
