Abstract

Copper coatings used in industry are subjected to wear and tear, thus a composite coating of zirconium di boride and copper is used using pulse plating technique. A composite coating is adding of 2 or more materials and then coating to improve its durability. This coating leads to higher adhesion and thereby controlling the wear and tear. This micron coating is tried for industrial purpose to obtain lesser tear of the substrate. When this coating is done in micron meter size, it leads to the improved life time of the material especially when the die is used in moving components. Here the coating is carried on a die which is used for manufacturing of antique jewellery. The die is 99.99% copper and it weighs 110-160 grams. This coating is performed on various specimens with various dimensions and it is observed that for a weight between 120-140 grams specimen, current density of 5A/dm2 and 79.2 duty cycle is optimal to obtain smooth coating without disruptions.
