Abstract

Purpose - Writing for children is essentially an important part of creative writing. It is done in a free and imaginative way. It can also be called an exercise of free composition on any subject. Children literature includes stories, books, magazine, poems and the subjects which are include in the curriculum of primary and secondary level classes that are made for children. This paper aims to present a picture of the Assamese children literature, its present style, its impact and roles on developing the educational knowledge, mental development, imagination and morality of a child. We try to give a glimpse about the child- writer and their creative writing and an introduction of Assamese children’s magazine.

Methodology : The necessary materials are collected from related books, article, research paper and internet.

Main findings : This research paper, with clear date, seems to reflect about the children literature of Assam, especially the impact and roles of Children literature on developing the imaginations and mental power of children. This research paper also give an identification about the Assamese Child – writer. Application - Besides getting acquainted with the evolution of the discipline of children literature of Assam. This paper seems to be beneficial in comprehending the required adaptation and changes on the children literature.

Novelty/ Originality : This significance of this paper lies in its effort to give a critical and analytical look at the children literature from its beginning to the present time. Most importantly the discussion will make a analysis on its value and necessity to develop a child
