Abstract

Lately, waqf has become one of the most important instruments for educational
development at Institutions of Higher Learning in Malaysia. The role of the waqf fund is seen
to be significant with the current economic downturn. As a result, most institutions of higher
education in Malaysia have taken alternative steps to assist in raising funds for universities in
the form of goods, equipment and cash, especially in helping low-income students in
Malaysian universities. The analysis of this study focuses on the development and planning of
the wakaf funds made by most universities in Malaysia in finding source of waqf and
distribution to target groups. The library research methodology is used to analyze each issue
raised especially involving the data of the Institution of Higher Learning in Malaysia. The
findings of the study found that the resources of educational institutions in higher education
institutions are constantly expanding and the universities have made many efforts especially
through the establishment of University Waqf Center and at the same time many scholarships
have been channeled to the target groups especially to the low-income groups in every
university.
