Abstract

This study investigates the impact of foreign direct investment (DFINV), money supply
(MNY) and urbanization (URPG), towards the sustainable development path in a selected 16
Asian economies. The sustainable development path is measured by the Adjusted Net Saving
(ANS) rate indicator, introduced by the World Bank in the early 1990s. It calculates the rate of
genuine savings of a nation, based on the concept of saving as future investment by accounting on
human capital development, natural resources depletion and environmental degradation. Using the
panel data analysis of fixed-effect GLS between the periods of 2004 until 2017, we found that
DFINV, MNY and URPG had significantly influenced the sustainability path of the 16 Asian
countries.
