Abstract

English poetry is unstructured text data, as each poet follows his style of writing a poem. The poet tries to advise in the form of  Wisdom that expresses the poet's opinion about a specific topic, event, and issue. Wisdom extraction is a new approach in the Text mining field. The biggest problem for people, especially those who are not English native, is to extract wisdom from the poems since it needs a perfect English language. This paper designs an automatic system for extracting wisdom from English poems using support vector machines ( SVM) and two Features Weight Methods, which are Term Frequency (TF) and Term Frequency – Inverse Text Frequency (TF-IDF) on training data. The performance accuracy measured using a confusion metric, where the best result is 76% obtained when the TF-IDF feature was used.
