Abstract

India has very rich in the solar potential compare to the other renewable energy. The government of India and the ministry of renewables are giving the huge subsidies in the area of the renewable energy power and apart from this the individual states in the India has very good policy and the subsidies to encourage the power generation through the renewables. Many states having the single window policies to setup the solar pants. Even though we have the rich in solar radiation in many places the technology has increased but we are unable to meet the expected level of the generation through solar because of the scarcity of the land.  In order to overcomes this rooftop is one of the solutions and this can be implemented in a huge number in the all the government building rooftop so that the barrier like land scarcity can be overcome. Especially the smart cities like smart Visakhapatnam in order to make the city more smart, in the point of the smart electricity supply is also an important issues to make this possible floating type solar technologies is one of the solution in this paper the author try to identify the  barriers in implementing the rooftop and floating PV technologies  and the  provided the solution to the barriers and the author also provided the  policies to implement both the technologies and compare the differences between the both technologies  and various business models in  India  with other countries.
