A Study On Economic Impact Of Act East Policy In Northeastern Region Of India

Abstract

North-Eastern India has nine percent of India’s geographical area and contributes three percent to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP). In relative terms, it is one of India’s economically laggard regions. However, given its natural resources base and strategic location, NER has the potential to become India’s “powerhouse” in terms of trade and investment. The impact of economic disturbance like traded and development impact is the main concern in this paper, the present study is based on secondary data collected from books, journals, website etc, the study showcase the economic impact of Act East Policy, particularly to the North Eastern Region. The most urgent need at this moment is to develop Special Economic Zones at the appropriate places of the region to start with the trade ventures.
