Abstract

Science has shown evidence that personality changes across lifespan and revealed that there are differences of personality across the young and middle-aged groups. This study attempts to determine changes of personality between College and Graduate School students using the Panukat Ng Ugali at Pagkatao (PUP). Most studies on personality traits utilized western scales.  Consequently, this study will investigate the differences of personality characteristics of adolescents and adults from different developmental stages in the lens of Filipino culture using an indigenous instrument which is the Panukat ng Ugali at Pagkatao (PUP).   Participants are male and female College and Graduate School students. Further, the researcher used existing data and used available information of the participants. Result shows that there are no differences in personality traits of adolescents and adults from different developmental stages.  The result is attributed to a small number of participants and how their culture has molded them through their lifespan. However, plasticity should not be left out because studies have shown evidence that it as part of human development.  For future research, this study may be replicated and a bigger number of participants may be included.  Moreover, a longitudinal approach may be conducted to look into the changes in personality.  A longer study will give a better picture of changes in personality rather than looking at different units.
