Abstract

An alarming Air Quality Index level and vehicular pollution prevails in major cities in many countries. The governments are planning to provide several incentives, road tax waiver for Electric vehicle (EV) users to overcome the problem. EV movement especially in India is expected to target mass population towards electric vehicle with attractive incentive policies. Increasing electric vehicle usages creates additional demand of power in peak hours and it may create power quality issues in distribution side which is to be mitigated with available renewable energy sources. In this paper, plug in residential charging station is proposed with PV panel, bidirectional vehicle charger, smart meter and grid. The energy management strategy for appropriate energy flow control is also discussed.
