Abstract

DC Coupled micro grids have been frequently used for the past few years due to its extraordinary distributed energy
generations and it does not require any synchronization. But, the difficult part in integrating DC micro grids is
control and energy management strategies between renewable energy resources and different operating modes in
energy storages. In this paper, a new energy management system is proposed for the grid connected hybrid energy
storage with battery and the super capacitor underneath exclusive working modes. The proposed energy
management system gives effective energy sharing options between different energy storage systems, a faster voltage
regulation linked with DC to generation and load disturbances, based on battery State of Charge (SoC) energy is
shared between grid and battery very effectively, improved power quality features in AC grid and seamless mode
transitions. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is demonstrated via simulation studies.
