An Assessment of Rural Infrastructure and Agricultural Development in the Himalayan Region

Abstract

Agriculture comprises the fundamentals of the lowest income developing economy. Although the relative contribution of agricultural productivity in aggregate economic growth is decreased interdependency between farms and non-farm sectors can't negate. Agricultural development surfaced a foundation for economic growth in both agriculture and non-agricultural sectors and found a reason to reduce the disparity of urban and rural infrastructural management.

India comprises different geographical and demographical advantaged regions abundant of various natural resources. Mountains possessed different characteristics of the agricultural element to be functioned. Therefore, a separate study required to evaluate the agricultural growth pattern. This study attempts to highlight the challenges and issues of agricultural development in the Himalayan region and explore the facts of rural infrastructural management of this particular region. Furthermore, the study evaluated the influence of rural infrastructure management on agricultural development.

Parameters of rural infrastructural management and agriculture development are identified on the basis of the literature survey and secondary data of agricultural statistics at a glance reports and rural development ministry reports.Moreover, Study reflects the institutional failure at the ground level to implement the infrastructural policy to agriculture development direction.
