Level of Satisfaction of Diabetic Patients Receiving Insulin with Insulin Pen and Conventional Syringe Device

Abstract

Appropriate glycemic control is very important goal in diabetic patients receiving insulin therapy. Insulin is administered subcutaneously using an insulin pen or conventional syringe. The present study was carried out to compare the level of satisfaction of diabetic patients receiving insulin with insulin pen and conventional syringe. A descriptive survey design was used for the study. A total of 100 diabetic patients were selected randomly who were receiving insulin. 50 patients were using insulin pen and 50 were using conventional syringe device to receive insulin. A likert scale was used to assess the level of satisfaction of patient with use of insulin pen and conventional syringe for receiving insulin. Patients who were using insulin pen were significantly more satisfied with various aspects of insulin experience like convenient, easy to carry, dose accuracy, pain etc.
