COGNITIVE COMPUTING AS TOOL OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN TOURISM INDUSTRY

Abstract

Travel and Tourism Industry has been one of the active industries as far the usage of technology
is concerned, be it Big data, The Internet of Things, Cloud computing or others. In the same league cognitive
computing is one of the most useful tools of artificial intelligence which technology has provided to Travel
and Tourism industry. Over the years, cognitive computing basically deals in two different sciences
simultaneously, one is cognitive science and other is computer science. Basic idea of cognitive computing is
to work as human brain on the bases of past usage of technology. In this paper useful features of cognitive
computing like adaptiveness, instructiveness, statefulness and contextuality has been discussed and
evaluated. The use of cognitive computing not only helps the tourist to find out perfect choice for him/her to
the available options but also it describes the tourist behaviour. Choices of transportation, accommodation
and other services are basic services are based on profile of the most recent preferences. It creates the
personal level communication with the guest and also creates profiles to offer faster and better services. This
study finds the role and impact of cognitive computing in tourist behaviour for future trip. This paper would
create better understanding of artificial intelligence with cognitive computing amongst managers and
destination planners in designing strategy for retaining existing customers and attracting new ones
