PERSUASIVE STRATEGY IN EFFORTS TO INCREASE THE INTEREST OF CLASS XII STUDENTS IN BURU REGENCY TO CONTINUE STUDY

Abstract

Many high school graduates have no interest This study aims to determine the persuasive strategies used by the teacher in motivating high school students in class XII to continue their studies. This type of research is a field research with qualitative methods. The location of this research is SMA Negeri 9 Buru, Lolongguba District and MA Uswatun Hasanah, Namlea District, Buru Regency. Data were collected by interviewing, documenting, and taking notes. The results of the study indicate that the persuasive strategy carried out by the teacher consists of five techniques, namely 1) the association technique which is carried out by selecting topics that are currently being discussed with students, 2) the integration technique is carried out by trying to familiarize oneself with the students by using the language used by the students. in daily communication, 3) reward techniques are done by telling various experiences of successful people and giving prizes to students who want to continue their studies, 4) structuring techniques are carried out by displaying motivational rhymes and jokes on the sidelines of motivation, 5) red- herring is used to describe the sacrifice of the parents so that students must become successful children.in continuing their education to higher level.
