Abstract

This research explores social capital in the development of volunteer-based Cooperative in Indonesia. This tries
to find out the role of social capital as bonding, bridging, and linking in developing volunteer-based cooperative.
As a qualitative research, it uses the social capital model offered by Richards & Reed (2015). Data triangulation,
that consists of interviews, observations and collected documents, is used as analysis methodology. The research
is located at a Forest Cooperative named Koperasi Hutan Jaya Lestari, South Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi.
There were 8 respondents interviewed. The findings indicated that bonding among KHJL’s members was still
maintained. Bridging that exists at KHJL and NGOs has been good until now. Meanwhile, linking between
KHJL and PT. SOBI did not go as it should be. Finally, it is necessary for KHJL and PT. SOBI to improve their
communication
