Abstract

The advancement of civilization that has led to the development of science and technology
cannot immediately be followed and adopted by all communities in this hemisphere.
Community groups who are unable to absorb the development of science and technology
develop attitudes and behaviors based on noble values inherited from their ancestors which
are then referred to as local wisdom. In an economic context, this inability results in a
community group being left behind in achieving prosperity and well-being compared to
people who can take advantage of the development of science and technology. This study
examines in-depth local wisdom in the economic behavior of the community groups who live
in Karangpace Hamlet, Klopoduwur Village, Banjarejo district, Blora Regency. This study
was conducted using an inductive approach and qualitative methods of phenomenological
type. This study was conducted in 6 months involving informants who guided employees of
the Perhutani Office who were active in non-governmental organizations and paid attention
to and care for the people of the sikul cycle who were the subjects in this study. The key
informants were Sedulur Sikep elders and prominent figures of sedulur sikep teachings. The
data were collected through in-depth interviews and observation. The results found four
propositions, namely: (1) Prosperity is understood as simplicity by Wong Sikep (Sikep
persons) of Karangpace hamlet; (2) Wong Sikep Karangpace has no obsession with wealth
and wealth; (3) Local wisdom that colors the economic behavior of Wong Sikep Karangpace
can be said to be irrational if it is related to Mankiew's theory of rationality; (4) The values
of local wisdom of Wong sikep Karangpace remain sustainable in the attacks of
modernization and the advancement of time because of submission and acceptance behavior.
