Analysis of Lightning Indirect Effects Electromagnetic Protection Measures for Composite Aircraft

Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to propose an airframe shielding measure and cable shielding measure for the lightning indirect effects of composite aircraft and analyze its protection efficiency. Simulating lightning current injection, the aircraft model and internal raceway structure is built with surface model. Moreover, the distribution of fuselage surface current and electromagnetic field under different lightning current paths are simulated based on the Method of Moment. The protection efficiency of different skin materials, thickness of the metal layer, raceway materials and structures are compared. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed measures based on the skin metal layer and raceway structure can provide better protection for the cables in the aircraft.
