Abstract

In this article, a  low profile metamaterial inspired rectangular microstrip patch antenna is presented for multi-band terahertz application. The proposed structure has a rectangular microstrip patch antenna with a hexagonal complementary split-ring resonator (HCSRR). The proposed structure is operated at four different resonating bands having multi-band resonance at 2.1 THz, 2.6 THz, 4.6 THz, 5.5 THz, and 6.1 THz. The entire structure is fabricated on an FR4 substrate with the loss tangent of 0.002 and 4.4 dielectric constant. The structure is simulated using the EM software CST. The simulated results of the return loss, VSWR, surface current, gain, directivity, and radiation pattern are presented.  The Maximum gain and directivity of the proposed structure is  4.02 dB and 6.89 dB at 2.6 THz bands. The proposed structure has suitable for the THz spectrum applications like security, medical characterization diagnosis, and material characterization.
