Abstract

The present day Distribution Systems in India and World over suffers from the issues related to unregulated voltage and unrushed current. These problems related with generation and Distribution systems results in malfunctioning of sensitive electrical and electronic equipments installed by the end user in industries and consumer households. The researchers through their proposed work have made a effort to address this issue of unregulated voltage and unrushed current using a FACT controller device called UPQC. This control technique goes a long way in upgrading the Power Quality in currently installed and in use Distribution system all around. In this work MATLAB Simulink has been used to analyze various fault occurring situations with UPQC and without UPQC. This comparative study has been undertaken to study various problems which compromise the quality of power such as voltage dip, current swell and Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). The results have been encouraging through simulation as they showed that how the THD at the line voltage and current has lessened than the source voltage and how UPQC has enhanced power quality in transmission and Distribution system.
