Abstract

This paper focus on the strengthening of desecrate RC element by using engineered cementitious composites ECC and by covering the beam  using chicken Mesh with conventional mortar. This ECC material is capable to exhibit considerably enhanced flexibility and strain capacity of more than 3%to5% compared to a normal concrete and thus acts more like a ductile metal rather than like a brittle glass. In this research work strength properties like compressive strength of ECC mortar cube, rebound hammer test on three types of beam namely, desecrated beam, desecrated beam with chicken mesh, and desecrated beam with ECC mix. Nevertheless flexural strength, shear strength, P-? behavior, moment rotation behavior after strengthening of reinforced concrete beam by using engineered cementitious composites were also found out.  ECC beam element showed better strengths than other two types.
