Abstract

The mathematical model for colloidal (dusty) plasma system is discussed. Approximate general analytical
expression for electrostatic potential around macroions is obtained by solving nonlinear Poisson–Boltzmann equations.
Taylor series method is used to solve the Poisson–Boltzmann equations for macroions in colloidal plasmas for the classical
geometries (spherical, cylindrical and planar). Satisfactory agreement is noted among new analytical results, numerical
results and previous available limiting case results. The effect of the parameter ? (ratio of positively and negatively charged
plasma particle concentrations) on electrostatic potential, electric field and charge density is also discussed.
