Abstract

Technology is advancing ina geometric progression in several aspects. It is inevitable to have hybrid material properties to meet this industrial/commercial requirements of design engineers. These hybrid properties are substantially ameliorated than that of individual constituents. The properties of this new generation material are highly influenced by their homogeneity of composition. The hybrid composites are produced by stir-casting method to produce the components at homogeneous mixing of constituents. In thepresent work, in order to improve themechanical properties like impact strength,hardness,density and wearresistance of aluminium6061 it is reinforced with palm sprout shell ash at different weight proportions to examine the influence of reinforcement of palm sprout shell ash on mechanical properties of aluminum alloy and composites prepared by stir casting technique.The samples are manufactured by varying the weight percentage of reinforcement by 1%, 2% and 3% by weight.The microstructural characteristics of composites are critically studied by using optical microscope and observed the uniform distribution of PSS ash. Mechanical properties such as impact strength, hardness are compared with base Aluminium alloy properties and noticed considerable improvement in them.
