Adoption and Usage of Learning Management System Technologies among EFL Students: Factors and Issues

Abstract

The way that teaching and learning is taking place in educational institutions with the integration of E-learning in education has changed, which is guided by the current need in equipping young minds with the 21st-century skills. E-learning has been adopted in most universities and has been pioneered by Universities. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that affect the use and adoption of LMS platforms for English language learning and development by EFL postgraduate students at selected universities in Malaysia. A purely quantitative research design was adopted to analyze the data. Based on the descriptive inferential statistics analyzed using SPSS and SMART PLS 3.0. The analysis of the results showed that EFL students are ready to adopt and use the LMS platforms for English language learning and development. The study also identified the components that the EFL students’ requirements in the learning platform such as English language materials and social networks and ICT access. Finally, the study recommends providing training for students who wish to fully optimize the platforms, add more learning tools to the platforms to facilitate and enhance the learning and developing of the English language.
