The Integration Of Educational Technology In Teaching Mathematics In Oman: Perspectives Towards The Future

Abstract

Technology plays a prominent role in enhancing and innovating the quality of education nowadays which is incoherence and relevance with the aim of the study. The study aims to investigate the use of educational technologies in teaching mathematics in Oman. 13 high school teachers were interviewed and surveyed regarding their views, experiences and use of technology-based teaching. The study used a mixed-method research design to collect and analyse data. The findings showed that the majority of the teachers regularly utilize technology for either communication and organizational purposes. Anyways, using certain technologies which are math-specific like dynamic geometry software or computer algebra systems, for creative, exploratory, and instructional teaching activities occurred mostly on an individual basis and certain topic-specific. The results showed that discussions of examples and familiarity with implementing technologies in teaching at field-oriented and regular professional development workshops regarding teaching mathematics can increase using math-specific technologies by teachers.
