Ethical Model About of Isan Local Wisdoms Cultural a Managing the Prevention and Solution of Drinking Alcohol among Youths' in Nong Khai Province, Thailand

Abstract

Alcohol drinking behavior is considered inappropriate for childhood and youth, however, in Thailand by various relevant agencies have tried to introduce measures to reduce and stop drinking, but the results show that it is not yet effective, especially in urban areas in Nongkhai province, Thailand. Therefore, this research was aimed to (1) analyze the situation and circumstances of the alcohol drinking problem among the youths by collecting data with in-depth interviews with 56 key informants. And (2) present the model of The Model of local ethical wisdom and social activities for solving the problem of drinking alcohol among youths by the workshop of 209 persons. The data was analyzed by using content analysis methods and data triangulation techniques.

         The situation and circumstances of the alcohol drinking problem found that; (1) In general, the behavior of the youth is considered to be good, which is divided into 3 groups as follows; the first, the internal school group, there are teachers who supervise and advise on the harm and harm of drinking alcohol. The second, the external school group and the labor group had a lot of alcohol drinking behavior. (2) After drinking alcohol, there is always an accident or an altercation. Otherwise, they may commit crime. However, problems in urban areas are more common, however, in non-urban communities there is often a community guardian. (3) Binge-drinking situations are often held at dusk or at festivals around the middle and high school age. In addition, it often appears during the festival or community merit-making period. (4) Policy guidelines on the supervision of the alcohol problem among youths focus on promoting awareness of the harms of alcohol by providing the relevant agencies to drive the target groups from kindergarten to youth level. (5) The past results of alcohol control have been undertaken by campaigning, monitoring, arresting and control seriously by governance, public health and excise, but they are ineffective. (6) Legal measures need to be conducted on a regular basis, providing advice, a campaign against drugs and alcohol, building a network of youth leaders, and expanding the concept of self-improvement. (7) Several agencies have implemented tackling the youth drinking problem, but they lack integration. (8) Ethical principles for changing alcohol consumption behavior include: Ritual 12, Five Precepts, and Five Ethical Principles (9) Local wisdom to solve the problem of alcohol consumption among young people, such as eating together within the family together, talking or training during eating, swearing to stop drinking, using herbs to stop drinking. (10) Social Activities for creativity and utilization of leisure time, such as exercise Doing volunteer activities Finding a career to make money Create a substitute Building morale by honoring the model youth, etc. However, sports activities may lead to further binge.

         Models of local ethics wisdom and social activities for solving the Youths’ alcohol drinking problems of youths consisted of; (1) Campaign to see the harm of drinking alcohol, (2) Change in attitude, behavior of alcohol consumption, (3) Solve the problem of drinking alcohol based on integrated Ethics activities by organizing activities at the Buddha camp or Ethics camp Dharma with an emphasis on the threefold principle.
