Design and Parametric Study of Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger with Different Coil Tube Arrangements

Abstract

The current work deals together with the numerical heat and fluid flow analysis of spiral tubes and shell side segmental baffles of shell and tube heat exchanger with continuous segmental baffles. Different mass flow rates and inlet temperatures are considered for the numerical heat and fluid flow analysis. Creo software is utilized to design the heat exchanger and Ansys-Fluent-16 is used for the simulation and visualization of turbulent fluid flow fields in the tube Side. The results are compared with the spiral tubes on ground heat exchanger. Spiral tubes on shell and tube heat exchanger showed 54% greater heat transfer rate as compared with the spiral tubes on ground heat exchanger.
