Abstract

Micro Grid and Distributed Generation plays a crucial role in the modern world by enhancing the Power System capability in various aspects. However, the balancing of Real and Reactive Power flow among the various types of inverters connected to the Micro grid is a challenging task. Though droop control technique and its derivatives offer a better power control schemes, they structure are complex enough requiring more computations. In order to have a control method which could alleviate the control from more computations and to have better co-ordination with the Micro Grid, a simple power flow technique is presented in this paper. The method interacts with the parameters with the Micro Grid at the Point of Common Coupling and injects the power to improve the voltage capability without overloading the inverter at any point of time. To control the power flow with the Micro Grid, Current control technique is adapted with non-ideal Proportional and Resonant controller. The complete scheme of proposed method was simulated in MATLAB Simulink environment. Subsequently, an experiment was conducted with two inverters to form a Micro Grid and the results obtained from the experiments were in agreement with the simulated results.
