Abstract

The aim was to identify the best use case for an optimization tool for opt the best handy parameters for reinforced Aluminium 6061. The surface terminology of the machined parts is one of the most important machining features that play an important role in determining the quality of technical components. Good surface quality can improve the performance of a wide variety of parts as well as the overall quality and durability of an entire product.  The main objective is to determine the optimal cutting parameters to achieve minimum production time and maximum surface accuracy. Wire Electric Discharge Machine (WEDM) seems to be a viable option for metal processing. This article presents the results of a study on the quality of surface technology and production time of aluminum parts. The processing parameters like pulse time, time gap between pulses, and supplied volts are taken into account in the experimental study are the cutting parameters. The experimental design method (taguchi) is used for testing design. The orthogonal array (L9) was chosen as the primary processing parameter for the WEDM and as an alternative to the conventional processing. The study shows the pulse time is a major parameter for the quality characteristics.
