Abstract

Knowledge of the interfacial skin friction among soils and different materials is one of the significant design parameter what's more, is of considerable benefit in soil/structure connection, gee-infrastructure, pile foundations and earth reinforcement's problems. It is fundamental to decide the skin contact along the pile shaft to get a decent assessment in bearing capacity of the pile in term about resistance of friction. In this paper, a numerical modelling (3-D axisymmetric) has been carried out using finite element program ABAQUS to explore the impact of surface roughness and hardness onto bearing capacity of the pile embedded within granular soil. Three different pile materials with various roughness and hardness properties are examined in this study. Static axial load tests are directed on various piles introduced in soil sample .The numerical results demonstrated that roughness and hardness of the pile material significantly affects friction resistance during axial pile loading test and interface friction tests.
