Practices Followed by the Food Stall Holders Related to Fuel Used for Cooking

Abstract

The current lifestyle of people has increased demand for ready-to-eat foods. Most of the consumers comprise of students, daily wage workers and bachelors who want to eat healthy food but at a low rate. But the consumers who are attracted by the low cost of food and less time in preparation of food may overlook vital aspects such as sanitation and hygiene and its harmful effects on the environment due to the fuel use. The practices followed by the food stall holders related to the usage of fuel has harmful effects on the environment as it generates air pollution.  The present study aims to find out the practices followed by the Food Stall Holders related to Fuel used for cooking. The present study was conducted in Vadodara City. Descriptive research design was undertaken for the present study. The sample of the study comprised of 250 respondents from various areas of Vadodara City. Purposive sampling technique was selected for collecting samples. Interview schedule was used as an instrument to gather the information from the respondents. It was concluded that the practices followed by the food stall holders related to fuel used for cooking had adverse effects on the environment.
