The Role of Descriptive Geometry in the Training of Students Majoring in Technology and Engineering

Abstract

The article deals with necessity to identify the role of descriptive geometry within the syllabus of
contemporary higher technical and engineering studies in Uzbekistan. It identifies peculiarities of the higher
engineering education and defines the role of descriptive geometry within it. The major strategy here is to
trace the current system of entrance exams, as well the structure of modern high technical education in
Uzbekistan. This article describes effects of entrance test exams on the general level of study, including the
geometric competence degree of nominees for technical areas of higher education in Uzbekistan. Also
presented are the characteristics of the existing structure of current high education in the field of
engineering and the role descriptive geometry plays, as well as methods of teaching students descriptive
geometry at Karakalpak State University.
