Abstract

In this work, the absorption and fluorescence spectra of DCM laser dye dissolved in polar solvents were measured and investigated. The fluorescence lifetime, The radiated life time and Quantum yield were calculated. The solvents which were used to dissolve DCM were Chloroform, Dimethyl sulfoxide and Ethanol. The results showed that the quantum yield decreased with dye concentration increase, also showed increasing in the radiative lifetime with dye concentration increase. And there is a blue shift in the fluorescence spectra toward short wavelength region with decreasing the intensity as increasing the polarity of the solvents had been noticed. The spectroscopic parameters such full width at half maximum (FWHM) for absorbance, full width at half maximum (FWHM) for fluorescence and stoke shift also were calculated.
