Educational Administration Leadership in the 21st Century

Abstract

The purpose of this research article was to report on the study of educational administration leadership in the 21st century. It is based on the qualitative research using documentary study and in-depth interview for research design. Research tool was interview form, and data was collected from in-depth interview and observations. Qualitative data from 7 key informants were analyzed by using content analysis and analytic induction. Results indicated that leadership in educational administration according to the theories and concepts of the scholars was varied in methods when synthesizing the contents into context in the 21st century. Leadership in education administration must have 6 aspects consisting of 1) planning, 2) good characteristics, 3) good communication, 4) human relations, 5) daring decisions, and 6) using of innovation and technology at a very good level. In addition, the educational leader was important key man for sustainable education reform. All educators were believed that school administrators must have management skills in all dimensions especially the academic administration, personnel management, budget management, and general administration. The most important aspect for educational administration leadership was to have a knowledgeable and professional academic leader in the 21st century schools.
