A Study on the Relationship between the Admission Motivation and Learning Status of Doctoral Students of Engineering

Abstract

This study conducted an empirical study on the motivation, learning status and influencing factors
of engineering doctoral candidates in 9 doctoral authorized institutions in Guangdong Province. The results
showed that the primary motivation of the doctoral students in engineering was to enhance their scientific
research ability and enhance their employment competitiveness. Different types of PhD students in
engineering are divided according to the Education Range Theory. The research suggests that we should
strengthen the training of scientific research, consolidate the research foundation of students, improve the
proportion of non-directional doctoral students, improve the award system, improve the training quality and
teaching service, and improve the training quality of doctoral students in physical education.
