Abstract

To reduce agricultural carbon emissions, this paper studies the relationship between carbon
emission reduction and fertilizer application behavior of farmers from the perspective of fertilizer
application behavior selection. With the help of questionnaire survey data and the establishment of a linear
causality model, this paper conducts an empirical analysis with the carbon emission reduction data
supported by farmers' choice of fertilizer application behavior in northwest China. The empirical results
indicate that the application of organic fertilizer, risk attitude to new fertilization technology, training
acceptance of fertilization technology, soil fertility and education level have great influence on carbon
emission reduction. According to the analysis results, it is suggested that the development concept of
low-carbon agriculture should be rooted in agricultural production, the application technology of soil
formula fertilizer should be widely popularized, the application amount of chemical fertilizer should be
controlled, and the application amount of organic fertilizer should be popularized
