Abstract

The green route synthesis using Murraya koenigii leaves of super paramagnetic ?Fe2O3
nanoparticles (NP’s) is adopted. The ?-Fe2O3 nano particles (NPs) were obtained by using plant
extracts through the reduction of ferric ions by rich phenolic groups and capping nature by –OH bonding
over the NP’s surface. The prepared NP’s exhibits ?-Fe2O3 (hematite) phase among iron oxides and irregular
size and shape with more aggleromated morphology with an average size around 35 nm was observed in
Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis. The clear existence of Fe and O was confirmed by EDAX
analysis and the ferromagnetic behaviors at room temperature was observed after vacuum annealing of the
?-Fe2O3 nano particles at 390 °C for 3 hours.
