Abstract

The paper focuses on the countless effects of sea water level rise in Kim Stanley Robinson’s New
York 2140.It also depicts the lively representation of the environmental issues on New York City. It gives a
clear picture on the impact of drastic climate change. The major change in ecosystem is also discussed.
Liquidity Trap in the novel portrays how human beings cope up with the collapsed nature. The paper also
discusses the life of New York people after the rise in sea water level. Though the environment is not as
before, the people of New York continues to lead their life in the collapsed city. They try their level best to
cope up with the new life in a drowned city but whatever efforts they put they are severely affected by the
changing environmental conditions. It also deals with how people favoring themselves from this drastic
change. The characters presented in the paper are the mirror of the mental, economical and physical state of
the individuals who come up with all these changes which happened unexpectedly.
