Abstract

In this millennial era, intervention from the current of globalization and modernization has
poisoned the mindset of the Indonesian nation's youth in perceiving the meaning of freedom in the nation
and state. Freedom which is before interpreted as freedom in any case, where a person can freely fulfill his
interests without any coercion or defense from the other party, by being obedient to the rules to create
himself as a moral person, changing according to excessive wishes. The real manifestation of the
representation of freedom that is not right at the age of high school adolescents as in the model of
promiscuity that looks common that occurs in Bengkulu Vocational School Students. In fact, such freedom
is very irrelevant to the true meaning of freedom and contrary to the spirit of Indonesian nationalism.
Therefore, this study aims to analyze and describe the representation of freedom as a manifestation of the
nationalist spirit of the Bengkulu City Grakarsa Vocational School.
The qualitative approach will be used as an approach in this study, involving students, homerooms teacher,
and principals in the Bengkulu City Grakarsa Vocational School as informants. Data analysis will be carried
out according to the qualitative stages as determined qualitatively by three stages of analysis according to
the Miles & Huberman model. The results obtained in this study are that the majority of Bengkulu Grakarsa
Vocational School students have understood the concept of freedom in accordance with the laws and
regulations, while others still have an incorrect understanding.
