Abstract

This article has some key aspects of the processes through which sexual identities are formed in
Thailand. First, to discuss identity as social and political processes intricately related to the concepts of
mobility and embodiment. Then, to study connections between these processes and the concepts of sexual
identity and transgender political action by demonstrating how LGBT have long worked to come together as a
movement to engage in a complicated process of social identity formation. This article shows how this is
particularly challenging for transgender in the face of negative social constructions in public policy by
discussing the allocation of public policy values to sexual identities in terms of Thai norms.
