Abstract

- In this paper, films of mixture (Rodamine (3GO and B)) at different concentrations into poly (methyl
methacrylate) (PMMA) for the optical limiting applicant were realized and examined. Also, the samples’ nonlinear
properties are conducted utilizing CW Nd-YAG laser at 532nm as excitation source, while the optical
response which is related to samples is specified via evaluating the intensity dependent refractive index n2 of
medium with the use of Z-scan method. In addition, the dye showed negative (i.e. de-focusing) non-linearity as
well as non-linear refractive index (NLR) with order 10-10 cm2
/W. There are varying concentrations of NLR.
The dye’s 3rd order non-linearity is dominated via non-linear refraction that results in strong optical limiting of
the laser. Furthermore, the optical limiting characteristics of the dye mixtures at different concentration values in
the matrix films are examined. The results are indicating that the mixture of (3GO and RB) dyes which are
doped in the PMMA were materials of high importance for the optical limiting applications.
