Teaching Faculty’s Job Stress& Performance: Moderating Impact of Emotional Intelligence & Social Support

Abstract

Through this study, researchers attempted to determine d the impact of ever- increasing jed job stress among
180 higher education teaching faculties on the job ir job performance of 180 teaching faculties, employed in
higher educational at higher education institutions in Delhi- NCR region. The study aimed at examining the
role of emotional intelligence as well as social support in reducing the detrimental effects created byof job
job stress vis-à-vis performanceon job performance. The dData collected from the sample was subjected to
correlation and hierarchical regression to examine the above propositions. Results were found to reinforce
the belief of confirm the negative impact of job stress on their job performance among faculties. But, the
study established EI and social support at work place as significant moderators of stress suggesting that the
two constructs abate stress induced harmful effects. This research work has implications for addressing
increasing pressures among higher education faculties and how it can affect their motivation and
performance.
