Community Empowerment Through Religious Tourism Development Around Syeikh Quro's Tomb, Karawang

Abstract

Empowerment is a process of increasing the ability of individuals or communities to be
empowered so that they can live independently. One of the efforts made is through the
development of religious tourism in the area around Sheikh Quro’s tomb. This study used a
qualitative approach, data collection using in-depth interview techniques, participant
observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed using data reduction, display, and
verification. The results showed that community empowerment was carried out using the
community actively participating in developing religious tourism in the area around Sheikh
Quro's tomb. The types of participation varied, ranging from involvement as a tourism
manager, as a kuncen, and in the trade. The conclusion is that the active participation of the
community can help develop religious tourism optimally so that tourism can improve the
local economy.
