Abstract

Since the tip portion is the main area to impact the near wake flow and acoustic radiation, in this paper, the aerodynamic characteristics, and acoustic radiation characteristics at the tip region of serrated blade tip trailing edge structure were investigated. The results showed that the output power of wind turbine with serrated blade tip trailing edge structure was reduced on average by 1.5%, so that the rotation noise corresponding to the fundamental rotation frequency and its harmonic frequency of the modified wind wheel decreased by 2.83% on average. At the same time, there was an impact on the tip vortex noise corresponding to the tip vortex shedding frequency, which was reduced by 0.8dB - 5.7dB. This indicates that serrated blade tip trailing edge structure could reduce wind turbine noise.
