Abstract

Education is one of the most important weapon of human civilization. Education helps the
individual to develop a critical thinking ability to have a broader perspective towards each and
every situation. Our Constitution has given us equal rights irrespective of gender but because of
lack of education many women are not aware about it. Injustices are happening with women
since past but women are unable to take a stand for that because of lack of knowledge about the
rights and laws. Education is very necessary for women. It will give them wings to fly so high. A
very famous quotation is “If you educate a man you educate an individual but if you educate a
woman then you educate a family” which determines the importance of women’s education in
the society. Women all over the world are kept out of socio-economical and political realm as a
marginalized section of the society. The Indian Constitution has so many provisions to promote
the educational status of Tea Tribe women but the outcome is not satisfactory. Gender biasness,
witch hunting, early marriage, honor killing, marital rape, forced marriage, forced abortion,
domestic violence, alcoholism are very common social issues. Though most the women are
economically stable but when it comes to spend the money they hardly get equal chance like
men. The main purpose of the study was to investigate the educational status and socio-economic
challenges of women at Monabari Tea Estate. The study was based on primary as well as
secondary data.
