Abstract

India is an agricultural nation with an 80% contribution to the employment of the rural population. 14-15% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is accounted for by the agriculture sector. India is the country that has the highest Net Cropped Area (NCA) all over the world. In recent years, there is a huge decline in the agriculture sector; still, it is the most extensive sector of the Indian economy. The main reason for the declining agriculture sector is due to improper revenue received by farmers. Middlemen and brokers take most of the profit and provide the minimum possible margin to farmers. Our paper is an approach to help farmers by providing them the proper medium to sell the products with a genuinely profitable margin to the whole sellers and even to the purchasers. We develop a system that omits the mediators/brokers/middlemen and helps the farmers to sell products directly to suppliers and customers. Our idea involves combining the Android system with Blogging. We selected blogging instead of the website because blogging does not charge a fee for domain or builder plans. At first from each city, we have to find a person who can provide the market requirement of products with quantity and expected pricing. There is a form available on the blog to request the required products where purchasers can request their required products. The person who manages the blog acquires information from the market and the online form to update the requirements daily to blog. This blog we cloned in the form of an android app that updates automatically if any change is done on the blog. All the information updated on the blog reflects on the android app of farmers. The app and blog can be designed in any regional language so all farmers can read them. On the blog, we update all the relevant pieces of information like the need for products, purchaser's name and contact number with a Google map link to reach purchasers, the quantity of product required, and the expected pricing. On getting to know about the requirements on the app, farmers can directly contact the purchasers and sell the products. This makes the farmers get the correct price of their products and almost nullifies the chance of middlemen. Even the public gets benefited by purchasing free and cheaper products directly from farms. We have additional benefits here by implementing the android app to the farmers. Through the app, we can warn the farmers against any impending natural calamities, display the subsidies and concession announced by the government, provide farming tips, etc.
