Abstract

The effect of heat treatment by annealing temperature on the formability process of Brass (CuZn30) alloy sheet with 0.7 mm thickness is investigated experimentally in this study. The annealed and as received sheet of the metal was tested using tensile test.

Brass (CuZn30) alloy was annealed within temperature of 600°C and 650°C at different cooling rate, in water and oil at normal room temperature 25°C and cooled iced water, it was noticed that the best heat treatment which gives the largest drawing ratio found when heated the Brass sheet to 650°C and then cooled it in iced water. Then for all this treated sheet was drawn by using small spherical punch the results show that the formability increases with increasing heat treatment temperature
