Abstract

Every culture gives identity to a certain group of people so that if we want to more easily understand the differences in each of these cultures we must be able to identify that culture. This culture includes various aspects of life, especially those related to social aspects. Humans as social creatures certainly cannot be separated from interacting with each other, communicating with each other and needing each other for their time. In this condition, we as social beings also need to understand various characters, even further we must understand the culture of each individual and the area where we interact so that harmony is created, not cultural friction. In connection with the above, the concept of neighbors as part of the cultural form of humans as social beings we need to understand more deeply. The discussion in this paper is about the neighboring concept of Japanese and Indonesian culture. This is interesting and needs to be understood in order to create good relations between the two countries and minimize friction or cultural friction in the two countries. This study uses a descriptive method using literature data search. Based on the results of the analysis that has been done, there is a very striking difference between the two, neighborhood in Japanese is very individual because they do not want to bother other people, while neighborhood in Indonesia emphasizes mutual cooperation or togetherness, in Indonesian it is known as ‘gotong royong’.
