Abstract

Lately, many government officials in the regions are entangled in corruption cases through a Sting Operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Corruption eradication is very important and must be done to save the country from bankruptcy. However, behind the success of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in capturing corrupt practices through arresting operations against government officials turned out to have a negative impact on the performance of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the organization. This research was focused on analyzing how a Sting Operation (OTT) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) affected the apparatus demotivation especially as a result of the trapping of government officials (regional heads) due to corruption cases. This research was conducted with a qualitative descriptive method through data collection from information sources (informants). The description method was applied to determine the demotivation phenomena that occur related to a Sting Operation (OTT) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) involving government officials and its impact on the overall performance of State Civil Apparatus (ASN). The results showed that Sting Operation (OTT) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in an organization had an impact on the apparatus’ motivation due to fear, conflict of values, lack of confidence, and ignorance of what they wanted to do. Demotivation that occurs continuously and uncontrolled has an impact on the overall decline in performance of the apparatus. The findings in this research turned out to be demotivated by the apparatus not only due to the occurrence of the Sting Operation (OTT) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in the workplace organization but because of the vast and massive mass media coverage of Sting Operation (OTT) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). So that the Sting Operation (OTT) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) does not cause counterproductive noise and leads to demotivation of apparatus work, which results in a decline in overall regional government performance, reporting in the mass media needs to consider various aspects such as ethical standards and professional expertise of its managers.
